Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct outreach, counseling and education in communities affected by Hurricane Sandy
  • Attend trainings and be able to assist disaster survivors to access services by guiding them through the assessment and referral processes
  • Assists disaster survivors in gaining access to disaster-related services, as prioritized by survivors
  • Provide short-term relationships with disaster survivors
  • Provide survivors with information and education about typical reactions, helpful coping strategies, and available disaster related resources.
  • Speak at community forums, professional in service meetings, and local government meetings.
  • Build relationships with community based organizations, faith-based groups, and local agencies
  • Attend community events to provide a compassionate presence and to be available to provide crisis counseling services, when needed

 

Minimum Requirements/ Preferred Skills:
